Our meetings
are proving increasingly popular. Indeed, there has been a dramatic
increase in the attendance at ICRS meetings in recent years, from
194 participants (of which 46 were from outside of the USA) in 2000
to a peak of 392 participants (of which 153 were from outside of
the USA) in 2004. This increase primarily reflects an increase in
the number of researchers in the area of endocannabinoid physiology,
biochemistry and pharmacology rather than in “traditional”,
albeit important, areas such as drug abuse potential of cannabis,
as the numbers of presentations shown to the right demonstrate.
Both academic researchers and, increasingly, researchers from the
pharmaceutical industry attend the meetings.
